London - Serena Williams defeated her sister and defending champion Venus Williams 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 on Saturday to claim a third Wimbledon title. Serena Williams took the first set in a tiebreak with a superb backhand lob and broke her sister in the sixth game of the second set courtesy of a double fault to take complete control. Five-time Wimbledon winner Venus managed to stave off three championship points in the eighth game but the 27-year-old Serena claimed victory on her fourth attempt and make up for the disappointment of last year's loss. The head-to-head between the sisters now reads 11-10 in Serena's favour and she has now also won six of the eight Grand Slam finals the pair have contested against each other.
