Washington - US authorities on Thursday seized the Manhattan penthouse of disgraced Wall Street financier Bernard Madoff, who was sentenced to 150 years in prison earlier this week. US marshals entered the apartment, worth an estimated 7 million dollars, at noon Thursday after getting a court order to take over the property on Monday, Bill Dundon of the US Marshals Service confirmed to the German Press Agency dpa. Madoff pleaded guilty in March and was sentenced Monday for a 65- billion-dollar financial fraud that affected hundred of investors around the world. Many will only get a fraction of their money back. His wife Ruth had been fighting to keep some of Madoff's 80- million-dollar estate, but lost that battle in the New York court last week. Judge Denny Chin did allow her to keep about 2.5 million dollars.
