Munich - Bayern Munich's Brazilian defender Lucio says he is ready to leave the club after reports that new coach Louis van Gaal is not planning with him. Lucio told Munich's tz daily Wednesday he had been saddened by reports that Bayern did not need him.
"That's why a change makes sense if there is a good offer," he was quoted as saying.
The 31-year-old defender, who captained Brazil to the Confederations Cup title on Sunday, did not take part in Bayern's first training session Wednesday under Dutch coach van Gaal.
Both Lucio and Italy striker Luca Toni, who also took part in the Confederations Cup, have been granted leave.
Lucio, who has another year on his contract, left it open on whether he would be returning for training on July 16.
Around 1,500 spectators turned up to watch Bayern's first training session featuring six newcomers - Mario Gomez, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Ivica Olic, Danijel Pranjic, Edson Braafheid and Alexander Baumjohann - as well as Andreas Goerlitz, who returns from a loan spell at Karlsruhe.
