Stuttgart - The top of the range Mercedes AMG in the E class, the E 63 AMG, will be available on European markets from August with a price tag starting at 105,791 euros (146,700 dollars), the car maker has announced. The AMG distinguishes itself from the standard E-Class with a range of sporty additions including a completely newly developed sports suspension, new exterior and interior design and a 6.4-litre V8 engine with an output of386/525 hp.

Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is in 4.5 seconds with the top speed electronically regulated at 250 km/h. Despite the whopping performance Mercedes says fuel consumption has been reduced by twelve per cent compared to the previous model at 12.6 litres per 100 kilometres.

A new, electronically controlled damping system automatically varies thedamping characteristics according to driving conditions. The driver can choose between the three suspension modes of Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus at the touch of a button.

The front design is characterised by a new AMG front apron with large air intakes and LED daytime running lights. The sports character is also emphasized with side skirts, a rear apron with black diffuser insert and newly designed chrome-plated twin tailpipes.

A newly designed interior includes electrically adjustable sports seats with improved lateral support and an AMG sports steering wheel in four-spoke design with shift paddles. The leather upholstery is available in three different colour combinations.

Standard safety features include a drowsiness detection system, a brake assist, seven airbags and crash responsive neck and head restraints. A lane-keeping assist and blindspot assist are available as an option.
