London - A painting by Pablo Picasso of a sword-wielding musketeer sold for 11.5 million dollars at Sotheby's auction house Wednesday. Picasso's Homme a l'epee, an oil painting created in 1969 - about four years before he died, was the top lot at the evening sale of Impressionist and modern art.
The painting was from a private US collection and the identity of the new owner was not revealed.
Rival auction house Christie's on Tuesday sold a Picasso painting, also a musketeer, from the same period for 9.3 million dollars.
