Los Angeles - Director David Fincher is in advanced talks to direct a movie about the young founders of the Facebook social networking site, according to trade paper Variety Wednesday. The movie, to be called The Social Network, is being written by Aaron Sorkin (West Wing, Charlie Wilson's War) and will focus on Facebook founders Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. They set up Facebook in February 2004 as a means for their fellow Harvard students to keep up to date with each others' lives.

The film is likely to be based on the book The Accidental Billionaires, which revealed the deep rifts that developed between the founders.

Fincher last directed the awards season favourite The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which was nominated for 13 Oscars and won three.
