Madrid - A massive protest by angry fans of relegated Betis took over the streets of Seville late on Monday. More than 60,000 disgruntled Betis fans marched through the city to the house of club owner Manuel Ruiz de Lopera, demanding that he give up control over the popular club.

Ruiz de Lopera has been the owner of Betis since 1992, in which time the club has won the King's Cup and participated in the Champions League.

However, this is the second time that his team have been relegated, and the angry fans are now keen for him to sell his shares and retire.

Betis were relegated from La Liga in May, along with Recreativo Huelva and Numancia.

Several former Betis players participated in the demonstration, including former Spain internationals Hipolito Rincon, Rafael Gordillo and Julio Cardenosa.
