Athens - A moderate earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale shook the western Peloponnese on Sunday, causing damage to a hotel but there were no immediate reports of injuries, officials said. The underwater earthquake, which took place at 12 pm (1000 GMT), had an epicentre 150 kilometers north-west of Athens in the western Peloponnese region of Aigio, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.

A hotel in the town of Lambrini suffered damage but there were no reports of injuries.

The same region suffered a major earthquake in June 1995 when a 6.1 Richter quake killed 27 people.
