Madrid - Brazilian superstar Kaka was set to move from AC Milan to Real Madrid for a fee of around 65 million euros (93 million dollars), several media reports said Tuesday in Spain and Italy. Later Tuesday, however, various media reported that Chelsea - now coached by former AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti, Kaka's most recent coach - would be prepared to outbid the Spanish giants for the Brazilian.
According to the Madrid sports daily Marca, new Real Madrid president Florentino Perez met with Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani and with Kaka's father, Bosco Leite, at the headquarters of the ACS construction company - owned by Perez - Tuesday in Madrid.
Kaka, who plays as a second striker or an attacking midfielder, is set to sign a five-year contract.
The Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport added that the Brazilian was set to earn 9 million euros (close to 12.9 million dollars) after tax per year, with no other players involved in the operation.
According to Marca, Perez - who formally returned to the Real Madrid presidency Monday - plans officially to announce the high- profile signing next week.
Both La Gazzetta dello Sport and Madrid sports daily AS, however, changed their reports within minutes, to include developments from London.
"Ancelotti blocks the deal," the Italian daily said.
According to AS, Kaka's father froze talks with Real Madrid to listen to Chelsea, which might at least help him improve conditions for the player even if he ends up joining the Spanish club.
Kaka, 27, had reiterated in Tuesday's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport that he is set on remaining at Milan.
"I'm saying it for the last time. I don't want to leave Milan," Kaka said. "Please, in this period I prefer to keep silent because I don't want to be misunderstood, or, even worse, used.
"To the millions of Milan fans I say that I made my choice. I said I want to stay. Leave me in peace please."
