London - A German student at Britain's Cambridge University was Tuesday cleared over a protest in which he hurled a shoe towards Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao. Cambridge Magistrate's Court ruled that there was insufficient evidence to prove that Martin Jahnke, 27, behaved in a way likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress during the incident on February 2.
Jahnke said he had wanted to make a "symbolic protest" and did not intend to hurt anyone. The prosecution alleged that his action was an "act of aggression."
