Bratislava - A Slovak infant was confirmed to have contracted the new A(H1N1) influenza, also known as swine flu, country's Chief Epidemiologist Ivan Rovny said Friday. The boy, aged eight months and a half, is a son of the 37-year-old man who was reported on Thursday to be Slovakia's first swine flu case.
The father arrived from the United States via the Vienna airport a week ago and infected his son while already in Slovakia. Both are feeling well, the health officials said.
The World Health Organization has so far recorded over 15,500 cases of the new influenza in over 50 countries, with nearly 100 deaths. Most cases are in Mexico and the United States.
