Bratislava - Slovakia Thursday reported its first case of the new A(H1N1) influenza, also known as swine flu, reports said citing country's Chief Epidemiologist Ivan Rovny. A 37-year-old man, who arrived Friday from the United States via the Vienna airport, was confirmed to have contracted swine flu, the Sme daily newspaper reported on its web site, citing Rovny.

The man is in a Bratislava hospital quarantine and in good condition, the report said.

According to the health official, six other Slovaks flew on the same plane but had no symptoms of the illness.

The World Health Organization has so far recorded nearly 13,400 cases of the new influenza in 48 countries, with 95 deaths. Most cases are in Mexico and the United States.
