Sydney - Nine swine-flu cases have been confirmed in Australia, officials said Thursday. Three of the victims are brothers under 12 years old, who flew home to Melbourne from the United States after a family holiday in Disneyland in California.
All six cases in Australia, including a Mexican woman visiting family in Melbourne, arrived in the country on flights from Los Angeles.
The first person to be diagnosed, a 28-year-old woman, arrived May 7 and has recovered. The second patient, a woman, has also had a full recovery.
The three boys, who returned a week ago to Melbourne, have been treated for their symptoms - as have many of their classmates in a Melbourne primary school.
Health Minister Nicola Roxon said she expected more cases.
"We are doing everything we can to make sue it doesn't take hold," Roxon said. "Of course, we may be fighting against the tide when we know that around the world this is a disease that is spreading fast - we know have more than 10,000 cases."
