Stuttgart - Germany's Bosch said Wednesday it would end a joint venture it set up with Denso of Japan, because the product, particulate filters for diesel engines, had not sold well. Bosch is to take over the factory and staff in Wroclaw, Poland where the filters have been made.
The German company said demand from carmakers for the filters had been too weak. It blamed this on the recession, which had led to over-capacity at rival filter factories.
The venture, Advanced Diesel Particulate Filters Sp.zo.o, is to be wound up at the end of this year.
Bosch said it would consider cooperating again with Denso at some point in the future.
The venture was set up in 2007 to make ceramic filters, which promised better performance along with lower manufacturing costs.
