Hamburg - A test version of Windows 7 is available for download for those who want to try out Microsoft's new operating system before it goes on sale. The program can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-download.aspx. The software, which is free and unlimited, is known as a Release Candidate, the final development stage before the program is released for sale.
It is expected Windows 7 will go on sale between autumn 2009 and early 2010.
Microsoft advises computer users who install the test version to back up their files for safety's sake, preferably on an external drive. The free version will function till June 1, 2010.
