Bremen, Germany - Werder Bremen acting managing director Klaus Allofs Saturday dismissed reports coach Thomas Schaaf was being lined up to take over at Bundesliga leaders Wolfsburg. Allofs said Schaaf had a contract at Bremen for another season and he expected the 48-year-old coach - 10 years in charge on Saturday - to stay.
"Of course, he is not free. He has a contract for the next season and we are very happy with him," Allofs told Premiere television on Saturday.
"We have no desire to release him. I have spoken to Thomas Schaaf and there are no reasons for us to be concerned."
According to Saturday's Bild newspaper, Schaaf has had "first negotiations" with Wolfsburg who are seeking a successor to Felix Magath from next season.
Schaaf said he would not be commenting on the report.
"I have never commented on such things and won't be doing so now," he said.
Meanwhile Allofs said it remained "open" on whether playmaker Diego would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Bremen have been in talks with Juventus over a possible transfer of the Brazilian but a deal has not yet been reached.
"We had promised him at the last contract talks that if ever a really good offer came we would listen to it but at the moment I cannot give any trend," Allofs said.
