Doha - At least 5,000 fans were able to hear Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias live late Wednesday at his first-ever Doha concert. To his fans' amusement, Iglesias, who turns 34 on Friday, performed many of his famous songs such as Love to See you Cry, Ping Pong Song and Say It.

On stage, the Latin heartthrob expressed his happiness at being in Qatar for the first time. Many in the international audience, with ages ranging from children to grandparents, waved glowing sticks and swayed to Latin rhythms.

The concert was organized by Qatar Foundation's Education City to celebrate the graduation of the 2009 class of the six US-based universities with campuses in Qatar, including Weill Cornell College, Texas A&M and Carnegie Mellon.

Iglesias, son of renowned Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, has sold more than 60 million albums around the world.

This is the second time that the Qatar Foundation, which was founded in 1995 by Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, has brought an international singer to the capital. Acclaimed Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli serenaded an audience last year in Qatar.
