Taipei - Some 1,000 Falun Gong practitioners rallied in the Taiwanese capital Taipei on Saturday to protest ten years of persecution in mainland China, where the spiritual group was founded. Standing in front of a huge banner bearing the words Falun Gong Is Good, the Falun Gong members - in total silence - performed meditation rituals.

The protest, which was also held by Falun Gong members in major cities around the world, marked the 10th anniversary of Falun Gong's protest against China's persecution, as Beijing cracked down on the group and declared it a cult in 1999.

"We hold this rally to call on the world's people to urge China to halt its suppression of Falun Gong and persecution of Falun Gong members," Chang Ching-hsi, head of the Taiwan branch of Falun Gong, said.

He said Falun Gong members will keep up the peaceful protest until China has ended its crackdown.

Falun Gong claims it is a spiritual meditation group seeking world harmony, but China accuses Falun Gong founder Li Hongzhi of spreading superstition and plotting to overthrow the Chinese government. Li fled to the United States after the 1999 crackdown.

Falun Gong accuses China of jailing and torturing Falun Gong members, as well as harvesting organs from detained Falun Gong members.

Organ Harvesting / Falun Gong in China
By: Giselle , Mon, 27 Apr 2009 20:42:55 GMT

Thank you for shedding light on the terrible human rights abuses by the Chinese government against the Falun Gong spiritual group. My heart aches when I read about the torture, mistreatment and slander piled upon decent, upright citizens by their own government!!

Anyone who has not heard about the large-scale (10,000 plus) organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China please look at this report by former Canadian Member of Parliament and Secretary of State, David Kilgour: www.organharvestinvestigation.net

Also, a very enlightening short documentary about Falun Gong and the April 25 protest can be seen on NTDTV:

Thanks and God Bless!

Falun Gong members commemorate 10 years of persecution in China

"Li fled to the United States after the 1999 crackdown."

This is factually incorrect. Mr Li started living in the US before 1998, at least 1 year before the crackdown began. Check your facts and don't just repeat the lies spread by the CCP.

Harvest of Falun Gong member's body parts
By: Roberto , Mon, 27 Apr 2009 00:29:09 GMT

Unless China is converted to the Doctrines of Christ as the Traditional Catholic Church teaches(not the modern heresies after Vatican II after 1965), there is no power on earth that has moral rectitude nor the power to stop the horrible holocaust of human mutilation and destruction of human lives. Not the USA-- it condones abortion, homosexuals, and the torture of Arabs and its own USA citizens; not communism, nothing.
