LONDON: Police have arrested one person who attempted to trespass on the Highgrove estate country home of Britain's Prince Charles early Tuesday morning. The prince and his wife Camilla were reported to be at the estate when the incident occurred.
The man, described as 55 years of age and hailing from Bristol, was found on the grounds of the country retreat, carrying a pitchfork and a sack. He was immediately detained and sent to police custody.
A spokesperson for the police at Gloucestershire confirmed the arrest and said he had been questioned and was later enlarged on bail. She said he was arrested for trespassing but he could not gain access to any of the buildings on the estate.
A spokesperson for the royal household refused to comment saying the police is handling the matter and they should be responding.
It is still not clear what the intentions of the intruder were.
Meanwhile, sources said a high level review has been ordered into royal security.
The estate is around 75 miles west of London.
