London - The British government Tuesday condemned as "shocking and senseless" the attack on Sri Lanka's cricket team which it said marked a "grim day for sport."The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Andy Burnham, said the shooting was a "grotesque violation" of the spirit of the game.
"The game of cricket brings players, spectators and nations together in a common, peaceful, purpose, and this appalling attack is a grotesque violation of that," Burnham said.
"Our thoughts are with the Sri Lankan cricketers and with the families of the Pakistani police officers who died protecting them."
