Whistler, British Columbia - Sweden and Italy secured victories Sunday in the World Cup Nordic team events held on the Whistler venues being prepared for the 2010 Winter Games. The Swedish duo of Robin Bryntesson and Emil Jonsson took the men's 6 x 1.6 kilometre race in a time of 19:44.1 minutes, beating Italy I with Fabio and Renato Pasini into second place by 0.3 seconds.
Canadians George Grey and Alex Harvey were popular third place finishers 0.6 seconds behind the winners.
In the women's 6 x 1.3 kilometre race Italy won in a sprint finish. Magda Genuin and Arianna Follis finished in a time of 17:20.1 minutes, beating Germany's Stefanie Boehler and Nicole Fessel by 9.9 seconds.
Swedish Olympic champions Lina Andersson and Anna Olsson were third.
