Berlin - Repeated, cramped pains are usually a first sign of gall stones, according to the Federal Union of German Associations of Pharmacists (ABDA) and they are usually first felt in the upper stomach, with pain sometimes radiating to the shoulder. The symptoms are often accompanied by a high temperature or fever. A sufferer should consult a doctor when the body temperature is higher than 38.5 degrees Celsius, in the event of chills or when the skin has a yellowish tinge.
Gall stone problems are often accompanied by weight problems which can be caused by eating too many fatty foods or consuming too many irritants such as coffee or alcohol. Nausea, vomiting or bloating are also signs of a gall stone problem, reports the ABDA.
Minor symptoms can be treated with warm compresses. Herbal methods, such as teas or extracts containing artichokes, curcuma, dandelion or yarrow, can also help ease the problem.
