Oslo - Norwegian police used teargas Sunday to disperse a gathering outside the Israeli embassy in Oslo to protest Israel's military offensive in the Gaza Strip. Several hundred protesters took part. Police use the tear gas to disperse the protestors.

Some protesters lit fireworks and threw eggs and stones at police and the embassy building, local media reported.

Shoes were also thrown at police officers, broadcaster TV2 reported.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

A similar protest was staged end of December, resulting in the arrest of some nine protesters.
