Hamburg - Former Germany goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand will join TSG Hoffenheim free of charge during the upcoming winter break, the Bundesliga leaders said on Wednesday. Confirming a report from the Bild daily, Hoffenheim released a short statement announcing the prominent hiring and saying that Hildebrand was to be presented at a news conference later in the day.
No further details were given in the press release.
Hildebrand, 29, comes to Hoffenheim for free after being released out of his contract until 2010 at Spain's Valencia last week.
Hildebrand joined to Valencia in 2007 from then Bundesliga champions VfB Stuttgart but failed to impress and hasn't played there since late August.
The seven-times capped Hildebrand also lost his place in the national team this year after not being nominated for the Euro 2008 tournament.
At Hoffenheim, Hildebrand will be reunited with coach Ralf Rangnick, who made him number one between the posts eight years ago in Stuttgart.
Hoffenheim were not fully happy with their goalkeepers Daniel Haas and Ramazan Oczan, who were considered the weakest part of the team which has taken the league by storm with attractive football.
