Beaver Creek, Colorado - Aksel Lund Svindal showed he is well and truly back from a career-threatening crash at Beaver Creek a year ago when he stormed to a second victory in two days Saturday on the same Birds of Prey course. The 25-year-old Norwegian followed up on his success in Friday's downhill by winning the men's super-g in a time of 1 minute 13.05 seconds for the 11th World Cup win of his career.
Austria's Hermann Maier finished in second spot, 0.45 seconds behind Svindal, with compatriot Michael Walchhofer third, a further 13 hundredths of a second adrift.
Svindal was the reigning World Cup champion and season leader 12 months ago when he crashed terribly during training at the demanding Golden Eagle jump on the Colorado course.
He spent several weeks in hospital after suffering facial fractures and a deep cut in his buttocks in the November 27, 2007 crash which wiped out the rest of his season.
