Los Angeles - For the second night in a row, hot-shooting Devin Harris was off the charts. Harris exploded for a career-high 47 points, including 21 in the fourth quarter, and the New Jersey Nets snapped a 14-year drought in Phoenix, with a 117-109 come-from-behind victory over the Suns on Sunday night.
"It's good to finally get a win here for the organization," said Harris, who shot 14-of-25 from the field, including a pair of three- pointers, and made all 17 free throws while adding eight assists and seven rebounds. "We had enough energy to finish it off."
After dropping in 34 points in the Nets' victory over Western Conference powerhouse Utah on Saturday night, Harris stepped up with an even better effort, giving New Jersey its first win in the US Airways Arena since March 13, 1993.
"Fourteen years: we haven't won here in 14 years," jubilant Nets coach Lawrence Frank said. "You can't say enough about Devin. He was phenomenal, just willing us once again like last night. His performance was unbelievable."
Vince Carter had 28 points for the Nets (9-7), who outscored their hosts 43-24 in the final period en route to their seventh win in the last nine games.
"Devin is playing off the charts," Carter said. "Our team has come together and we are learning from our mistakes."
Steve Nash, who sat out the last game with a thigh contusion, led Phoenix (11-7) with 26 points and nine assists.
Amare Stoudemire had 25 points and 11 rebounds before getting ejected after drawing his second technical foul with 3:24 left in the game.
"Amare getting kicked out kind of hurt us a little bit momentum- wise," Suns coach Terry Porter said. "That fourth quarter really did us in, gave those guys 43 points. We just stopped being aggressive."
The Suns were leading 100-98, when Stoudemire argued too long over a walking violation and got tossed for what he thought was a foul.
"The rule states that I'm allowed to react so long as I don't continue the verbal towards the official," he said. "It was a simple reaction, and I got ejected for something like that. I have seen players do a lot worse and not even get a technical foul."
With the Nets trailing 102-99, Harris hit Carter for the game- tying three-pointer. Harris then nailed a 16-foot jumper with 2:11 left to put the visitors ahead 104-102.
After teammate Brook Lopez's dunk, Harris hit six free throws in the final 65 seconds, and the desert drought was over.
"To get a 43-point fourth quarter doesn't happen a whole lot, and it shows a lot about the grit of our guys off a back to back," Frank concluded. "Our guys showed great guts. They really competed hard."
