Aspen, Colorado - Austrian skier Nicole Hosp escaped serious injuries but the season is over Jose Rienda Contreras of Spain and Italy's Chiara Costazza after a crash-marred World Cup giant slalom. Austrian ski officials said that the 2007 overall World Cup champion Hosp bruised her knee when she straddled a gate and crashed in the second run of Saturday's race.
Hosp was quoted as saying after medical examinations that she was lucky to escape more severe damage and expects to race again as soon as possible.
But Rienda Contreras ruptured the cruciate ligament in her left knee and Costazza tore her left Achilles tendon in the race on an icy course, sidelining both skiers for the season.
