HP'snew notebooks feature peonies and atom processorsBoeblingen, Germany - HP has added two notebook computers to its range. The Compaq Mini 700 Netbook comes with a 10.2-inch display while the HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Special Edition has a slightly smaller 10.1-inch display. According to the manufacturer, both will be equipped with an Intel Atom chip, 1 gigabyte (GB) of working memory, a 60 GB hard drive and Windows XP.

But the differences are also apparent on the surface. The Mini 700 comes with a shiny black case and will be available for 399 euros (506) when it's released in mid-December. Meanwhile, the HP Mini 1000 will feature stylized peonies when it goes on sale in February 2009 for 599 euros. ----

Kathrein releases new satellite digital TV receiver

Rosenheim, Germany - Kathrein has released a new receiver for satellite digital TV broadcasts. The company says the UFS 650 DVD-Sat receiver comes with an HDMI connection, EPG, and videotext with a memory capacity of 800 sites and costs 100 euros (127 dollars). ----

BenQ offers new XGA resolution projector for 599 euros

Hamburg - BenQ's new business-friendly projector is called the MP523 and has a resolution of 1024 X 768 pixels (XGA) and brightness of 2000 ANSI lumens, according to the manufacturer, plus a contrast of 1600:1. It weighs 2.4 kilogrammes. The beamer includes S- Video, Video and VGA-D sub routines and costs 599 euros (761 dollars).
