Lake Louise, Canada - Peter Fill of Italy celebrated the first World Cup win of his career Saturday when he took victory in the men's downhill in Lake Louise. Fill took advantage of better conditions than those for top favourite Bode Miller of the United States to win in a time of 1 minutes 47.40 seconds.
Sweden's Hans Olsson took second place, 16 hundredths of second behind Fill, with Georg Streitberger of Austria third.
Overall world champion Miller eventually finished down in 15th place in the first downhill race of the season.
