Hamburg - Jan Ullrich's former mentor Rudy Pevenage returns to cycling as sports director of the US team Rock Racing, two years after being linked with a Spanish doping probe, the cyclingnews website reported on Wednesday. The Belgian Pevenage was suspended by the T-Mobile team in 2006 along with the riders Ullrich and Oscar Sevilla for alleged connections with Spanish doctor Eufemiano Fuentes, the main suspect in the investigation. Pevenage and the 1997 Tour de France winner Ullrich were together at the Telekom, Coast, Bianchi and T-Mobile teams. At Rock Racing, Pevenage will meet Sevilla again and the team also boasts former time trial world champion Tylor Hamilton of the US. Rock Racing has no ProTour licence and mainly competes in the US, but aims to be more present in Europe.
