Rome - AC Milan remained within one point of Serie A leaders Inter Milan thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win against minnows Chievo. Champions Inter had the best of Palermo Saturday with a 2-0 win that pushed them on to 27 points from 12 games, while 10-man Napoli lost ground as Atalanta beat them 3-1 Sunday.

Udinese were stunned 1-0 at home against lowly Reggina, Fiorentina also lost 1-0 away to Cagliari and Catania beat Torino 3-2, the same scoreline that sealed Sampdoria's win over Lecce.

Giants Juventus continued their improvement with a 4-1 drubbing of Genoa on Thursday, Siena and Bologna drew 1-1 Sunday, while struggling giants Roma and Lazio close the weekend in a late city derby.
