Shanghai - Canada's Daniel Nestor has backed up his year-end title from a year ago, lifting his second in a row with a second partner as he and Nenad Zimonjic beat Bob and Mike Bryan 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 to win the Masters Cup on Sunday. The Canadian claimed the title a year ago with Mark Knowles of the Bahamas. He and Zimonjic, the Wimbledon champions, finished the season as the top team in the world after winning the winner-take-all final at the Qi Zhong stadium.
Serbia's Zimonjic ended as the top individual player since he has played two tournaments less than Nestor, who finished number two.
The pair came back from a break down in the first set and broke Bob Bryan twice in the second to claim the victory in 73 minutes.
The sides had met in three previous finals in 2008, with Nestor and Zimonjic Toronto and Hamburg while the Americans took Rome.
"It's hard to imagine," said Nestor, 36. "It's a great feeling, we have had a great year, if at times a little inconsistent.
"But when we have played well, we have been very tough to beat. We really get on a roll. I think when we are playing well, we are deserving of the number one ranking."
