Rio de Janeiro - Away from football stadiums since he resigned as South Africa coach in April, Brazilian coach Carlos Alberto Parreira admitted Monday that he misses the thrill of the sport, but noted that he is no longer willing to work away from Rio de Janeiro, where his family lives. "When I see coaches complain about staying 15 days away from their families, that touches me, because I faced that situation for 40 years. That is why, if I were to accept a proposal, it would have to come from a team from Rio de Janeiro," Parreira told the sports website UOL Esporte.

He said that a few months ago he turned down two offers to coach Middle Eastern teams, and that he also refused to coach the currently-troubled Rio de Janeiro club Fluminense.

Parreira admitted that he is already tired of his temporary retirement from football.

"I miss football's adrenaline. It is not easy for one to get disconnected, particularly after the past five years, which were very rushed and wore me out."

The man who led Brazil to the 1994 World Cup title was sacked from the position of Brazilian coach two years ago, following a failed campaign at the 2006 World Cup.
