Buenos Aires - Pedro Pompilio, president of the Argentine football club Boca Juniors, died Thursday of a stroke. Pompilio, 55, had served as president since 2007 when then president Mauricio Macri was elected mayor of Buenos Aires. Pompilio was to hold the post with the club through 2011 and had previously served as vice president at Argentine giant Boca from 2005-2007. "I cannot speak. He was a son. I saw him be born. He had tough fights, he was surviving in a club like Boca, which is not easy," said a visibly moved Argentine federation president Julio Grondona. The club cancelled all activity, including the first team training session.
