Copenhagen - Danish Queen Margrethe II has designed the set and costumes for an upcoming ballet performance based on a Russian folk tale, the palace said Tuesday. The ballet is based on the Russian folk tale, The Little Snow Girl, about an old childless couple who take care of a little girl. The music is based on traditional Russian folk tunes and work by Russian composers. The performance was due December 13-14 in Copenhagen. The 68-year-old monarch has reigned since 1972. In addition to her work as a set and costume designer she has also exhibited paintings and watercolours, and has illustrated books including the Danish edition of The Lord of the Rings.
