Frankfurt - Bundesliga bottom team Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday won their first match of the season, beating Karlsruhe SC 2-1. The game was to have been played several weeks ago, but a Madonna concert held in the stadium a few days earlier made the pitch unplayable at the time.

Some 47,000 spectators saw all three goals scored in the final eight minutes.

The visitors took the lead in the 82nd minute through Maik Franz, but Banjamin Koehler managed to find an equalizer for the struggling Frankfurt side four minutes from the end.

Ioannis Amanatidis found the winner for his side in injury time, for a victory that will have given beleaguered coach Friedhelm Funkel some respite.

"We showed plenty of team spirit and kept on fighting until the very end and we were rewarded for that. The victory was highly motivating and we are still alive in the league, with our coach," defender Patrick Ochs said.

The result sees Frankfurt move to 15th in the table, while Karlsruhe remain 12th.
