Manila - Two more Chinese-made food products being sold in the Philippines were found tainted with melamine, bringing to six the total number of products contaminated with the hazardous industrial chemical, a health agency said Wednesday. The Bureau of Food and Drugs identified the two contaminated products as Lotte B+W KOALA Biscuit and Lotte Chocolate Snack KOALA biscuit.

Earlier, the bureau identified another Lotte biscuit product to be contaminated with melamine, along with four milk products.

The agency also announced that 184 milk products, mostly from China, were cleared from melamine contamination.

Melamine is used as a binding agent and coating for particle, fibre and laminated board. It is also used to make fertilizer.

The bureau has been conducting tests on Chinese milk and milk products since last month following reports that four babies were killed and more than 53,000 fell ill in China after drinking melamine-tainted infant formula.
