Kubica fastest on wet Fuji Speedway in final practice

Fuji, Japan - BMW-Sauber driver Robert Kubica Saturday scored the fastest lap in the third and last practice run ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix. The Pole, who currently ranks third in the standings, finished at Fuji Speedway in wet conditions in 1 minute, 25087 seconds, beating German Toyota driver Timo Glock by 0.084 seconds and Brazilian Nelson Piquet in Renault by 0.328 seconds.

Lewis Hamilton, the leader in the Formula One standings came in 11th with a time of 0.814 seconds behind Kubica. The McLaren Mercedes driver held back, as did his pursuer in the rankings, Brazilian Felipe Massa in a Ferrari, who finished 7th, 0.622 seconds behind.

Defending champion Kimi Raikkonen, the second Ferrari driver, came in at the 16th spot.

With three races left in the season, Hamilton is at the top of the standings with 84 points and four wins. Massa follows seven points behind and Kubica 20 points behind. Raikkonen is forth with 57 points.
