New York - Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abdul Gheit Saturday charged that Israel showed too little willingness to compromise in the peace process with the Palestinians. Despite the hope that rose out of the November 2007 peace summit in Annapolis, Maryland, for a lasting solution, Israeli opinion and political leaders had failed to show the necessary will to carry it out, Gheit told the UN General Assembly in its annual debate.

He demanded an immediate stop of expansion of Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories and a withdraw by Israel out of occupied regions.
