Varese, Italy - Nicole Cooke of Britain added the world title to Olympic gold on Saturday when she won a sprint finish of a five-strong leader group. The Beijing Games champion Cooke won the race over 138.4 kilometres in 3 hours 42 minutes 11 seconds, taking victory on the final metres by passing Dutch Marianne Vos.
The 2006 champion Vos had to settle for second and 2004 winner Judith Arnth of Germany came third like in the time trial earlier in the week.
The world championships end with the men's road race on Sunday.
