Munich - Bayern Munich coach Juergen Klinsmann Friday gave captain Mark van Bommel a vote of confidence following media reports that his standing in the side is suffering from a rotation policy. "Mark is our captain and has our complete confidence. He enjoys the team's respect and full recognition," Klinsmann said.
The Dutch midfielder, was appointed captain by Klinsmann at the beginning for the season, but has twice been left out of the side.
Klinsmann said the fact that van Bommel was left out of the team which beat Nuremberg 2-0 in the German Cup on Wednesday was "a normal process." He will be back for Saturday's visit to Hanover 96.
Klinsmann said competition in defensive midfield was tough and he would continue to rotate his players
"Whether Mark or someone else is affected is something the players have to live with," he said.
Former Bayern captain Stefan Effenberg told Bild newspaper Friday Klinsmann was wrong to leave out his captain and said the team now had a hierarchy problem.
"As captain you need to know that the coach is 100 per cent behind you," he said.
