Frankfurt - Germany is not available to host Euro 2012 if Poland and Ukraien are stripped of the event, the German football federation DFB said on Tuesday. "This is not an issue. We respect the hosts and fully support them. There has been no query from UEFA either," DFB general secretary Wolfgang Niersbach told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
The UEFA executive committee meets Thursday and Friday in Bordeaux, France, with the Euro 2012 host situation top of the agenda.
Delays in stadium construction and infrastructure problems ranging from accommodation to transportation have raised questions whether Poland and Ukraine are really fit to host the 16-team event.
UEFA boss Michel Platini visited both countries in early July and they were given an ultimatum until the Bordeaux meetings to make improvements.
Germany, along with Spain and Italy, was in media reports named a candidate to host the event if UEFA takes it away from Poland and Ukraine. There was also speculation that Germany and Poland could co-host the tournament.
Poland and Ukraine were elected by UEFA in April 2007 to host the tournament, beating Italy and a joint bid from Croatia and Hungary.
