Tel Aviv - A rocket was fired Sunday evening from the Gaza Strip into Israel, prompting Defence Minister Ehud Barak to order the closing of the country's crossing points with the enclave for one day. The rocket, fired in violation of a nearly three-month-old truce, landed in southern Israel. It caused neither damage nor injuries. An unknown Palestinian group claimed responsibility.
Last month, Barak had taken the same step after two missiles were fired from the enclave.
There have been sporadic firings of mortars and missiles from the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire between Israel and Gaza-based militias went into effect on June 19.
After the Islamic Hamas movement took over the Strip last year, Israel restricted imports to humanitarian goods and banned exports.
