Britney Spears has apparently had it with the paparazzi and the equally persistent tabloids. How else would you explain the deal to do a reality show shot as six episodes with US network UPN?
Briyney and her brand new husband Kevin Federline have agreed to lend home videos of them shooting each other to the network in a bid to counteract what Spears terms as malicious lies being spread by tabloids around the world.
This particular video has reportedly been filmed over the past year and will carry viewers through the fairy tale romance of the pop-diva and back-up dancer Federline.
How they met and how they got to know each other and finally their marriage will be shown in the series expected to premiere in the US by the next month.
Commenting on the need to do this show, Spears said, "I feel that last year the tabloids ran my life and I am really excited about showing my fans what really happened rather than all the stories, which have been misconstrued by journalists in the past. As I mentioned before, I am now going to be expressing my personal life through art. This series will show us falling in love and all the adventures that went on overseas during the European leg of my Onyx Hotel Tour. It’s going to be an exciting ride."
UPN Entertainment president Dawn Ostroff, is understandably upbeat about procuring the mega deal, "I don't believe they shot this initially with the intention that it would be something the public would see". The two of them were shooting each other as they were getting to know each other. "It's very raw and very intimate." she commented when asked if this was a stage-managed affair. Ostroff added that the series intended to give Spears and Federline a medium to tell their love story their way.
The series will be aired on a sister company of UPN, MTV Music Group Channels, and is believed to have five half-hour episodes with the last one being an hour-long.
