New York - Dinara Safina says she needs to control her emotions after going down to defeat against Serena Williams in challenging conditions at the US Open semi-finals. The 22-year-old Russian added that she aims to stop acting "spoilt" in matches which turn against her.

"I think I was behaving like a really spoilt girl," she said.

"I have to learn from these things if I want to get better. I have to learn to handle my emotions better."

The French Open and Beijing Olympic runner-up lost an early lead against Williams and never again threatened. "I was feeling physically better, but it was bad behaviour from my side."

She said she spent too much energy being negative, slumping her shoulders, screaming at herself in Russian and complaining in the blustery conditions which signalled the arrival of weekend bad weather.

NOTEBOOK: Bryan brothers starting to focus on Davis Cup doubles =

New York - The Bryan brothers are inspired to greater glory after winning their second US Open title and sixth major. The next objective for the twins will be the US Davis Cup semi-final against Spain in Madrid.

"We have been talking about that every day in the locker room, we look forward to that match as much as we look forward to a Grand Slam final," said Mike Bryan.

"If we could give our team a point on that Saturday, we'll be happy guys."

The pair of 30-year-olds say they are ready to go on winning. "This (US Open) title make us hungrier, it whets our appetite for more titles.

"We are gonna work harder. We still love playing the game of tennis and still love doing what we do.

"I think on paper we are the underdog, playing on dirt against Spain. If we can do our job and get that one doubles point. We can't lose it, we are putting a lot of pressure on ourselves."
