ZURICH (Reuters) - Swiss food group Nestle has appointed new regional heads in the Americas and Europe as its Americas head and former chief financial officer, Paul Polman, is leaving the company. The world's largest food group, Nestle said on Thursday Luis Cantarell was taking over the Americas job with immediate effect from Polman, who was leaving to pursue other interests.Polman had been long seen as front runner to take over from Peter Brabeck-Letmathe as Nestle's Chief Executive but the board picked former Americas head Paul Bulcke instead last September.Nestle said Laurent Freixe would succeed Cantarell as head of the Europe business.(Reporting by Sven Egenter; Editing by Quentin Bryar) (c) Reuters 2008.
