Madrid - Football club Real Madrid are going to make a last- minute bid for David Villa, according to sports daily Marca on Sunday. Marca claims that Real will offer Valencia up to 48 million euros (70.46 million dollars) for the Euro 2008 top scorer, before the summer transfer window closes on Monday.
Last week Valencia rejected a Real offer of 40 million euros for Villa.
The Madrid club are now even keener to buy Villa because winger Robinho is insisting on leaving for Chelsea.
Robinho has been left out of the squad for Sunday's first league match away to Deportivo Coruna, where Real have not won since 1991.
Marca quotes Real coach Bernd Schuster as saying to club president Ramon Calderon that "the one that I want is Villa."
New Valencia president Vicente Soriano has consistently said that Villa is not for sale.
Indeed, the striker himself said on Saturday - after scoring the first goal in the 3-0 defeat of Mallorca - that he was "happy to be staying" at Mestalla.
Marca's rvial AS, for its part, claims on Sunday that Real are interested in Valencia's right-winger Joaquin Sanchez, who did not play against Mallorca.
