Frankfurt - European tour operator Thomas Cook Group plc announced Thursday it was in talks with Deutsche Lufthansa AG and TUI Travel plc regarding the merger of subsidiary airlines owned by the companies. No commercial terms had yet been agreed and there was no certainty that any transaction would be agreed, a brief statement from the tour operator said.
The airlines involved are Condor, a subsidiary of Thomas Cook in which Lufthansa already owns 24.9 per cent, Germanwings, of which Lufthansa owns 49 per cent through Eurowings, and TUIfly Germany, a TUI subsidiary.
