Tehran - Five prisoners convicted of murder, including a woman, were hanged in Tehran, the governmental daily Iran reported Thursday. The five were hanged on Wednesday in the Evin prison in northern Tehran after their death sentence had been confirmed by the Supreme Court.
The woman had reportedly killed her husband who wanted to leave her for a younger woman.
Murder, rape, sabotage and drug-trafficking of quantities in excess of 5 kilograms are crimes punishable by death in Iran.
