Members of Darbur rebel group hijack Sudanese plane - 2nd Update

Dubai - Three members of a Sudanese rebel group hijacked a Sudanese aircraft with more than 80 passengers aboard, Arabic language media reported Tuesday. According to the al-Arabiya news broadcaster, three hijackers were from one of the numerous rebel groups out of Sudan's troubled Darfur, from which the plane originated.

Originally destined for the Sudanese capital Khartoum, the plane was redirected for refuelling to Libya where it landed in the south- eastern Kufra airport, the al-Jazeera news agency reported.

Reports had it that the hijackers had initially ordered the pilot to fly to France.

The goal of the hijacking were not yet known.
